Wedding planning doesn’t have to be stressful. Especially when it comes to deciding on how to choose a wedding photographer.

Yes, there are lot of steps involved that can lead to a long hard process but it can be fun! We are here to guide you and point you in the right direction to save time and headaches. Where do you even begin? How much to you spend on a photographer? When will I receive my photos? Before we answer those questions here are 3 simple steps that help you choose the right wedding photographer for you.

Sit down with your fiancé and ask yourselves, where is photography on your priority list?

Utilize this time in the beginning stages of wedding planning to determine what’s important to you folks. Is it the food? Is it the decorations? Is it the dress? List out all of the vendors that you’re are looking at and that way you guys can discuss what’s more of a priority to you. From there you can decide where to put more resources towards and budget accordingly. You’ll also be on the same page with your other half which is very important.

What kind of style of images do you want on your wedding day?

Do you ever come across photos and just wowed? This is how I picture my wedding to be! Photographers will utilize their creative eye to capture your wedding in ways ranging from a journalistic approach to a magazine editorial style. Take advantage of all of the ways to find a photography style on Google, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and even TikTok. Take note of the styles that keep on capturing your attention while researching. After you narrowed down your list to a few styles, you can then start searching for photographers that fit those profiles.

Get to know your photographer(s)

When you find a photographer that you are interested in, reach out to them whether it’s on their website, social media, or better yet a coffee date. Getting face to face time to feel each other out is great because you can get a first hand experience on how they work. Do you feel comfortable with them around? Are they personable or relatable? Would you invite them to your wedding? The goal in knowing your photographer is to be able to have a memorable experience on your wedding day. Since the photographer are one of the only vendors that will be in your personal bubble for most of the day, it’s better to get comfortable with them right away. With that, genuine shots will be captured and the overall experience will be great on both ends.
